Apprenticeship Skills Training

To enhance and ensure the successful completion of apprenticeship training as per ministry requirements.


Career Experience/Job Shadowing

The Career Experience Program is designed to assist participants in assessing their skills and identifying a career goal.


Community-Based Skills Maintenance

The Community-Based Skills Maintenance Program is designed to ensure that skills acquired by Six Nations members either through training programs or employment are maintained or enhanced between jobs.


Community Capacity Building

The Community Capacity Building program is designed to enable Six Nations members/organizations/communities to build the capacity needed to achieve long-range human resource development.


Disability Opportunity Initiative

The objective of the Disability Opportunity Initiative is to utilize GREAT’s existing employment and training programs to remove barriers to employment for persons with disabilities.


Employment Supports

While funds are extremely limited in the area, the Employment Supports Program is designed to assist individuals to enter or re-enter the labour market.


Income Support

G.R.E.A.T. offers income support in several different areas.


Internship

Internship provides recent university and college graduates with career related skills enhancement and work experience to help them make a successful transition into the labour market.


Job Connect

To provide Six Nations youth assistance in job placements, resume and cover letter preparation, access to self-help computers, employment planning and job development placements.


Local Labour Market Partnerships

One of the objectives of the Local Labour Market Partnerships is to support partnership activities to foster employment.


Mobility Assistance

The Mobility Assistance Program is designed to provide access to jobs available in another locality.


On-the-Job Training
To provide training and work experience for Six Nations of the Grand River Members by providing on-the-job training costs, wage subsidies and other specified costs to employers.

Self-Employment Assistance
The Self-Employment Assistance Program provides financial assistance, training and technical assistance to individuals in receipt of Employment Insurance (E.I.) who want to start their own business but will normally lose E.I. benefits as a result of this decision.

Skills Enhancement

To enhance existing skills of employed Six Nations Band Members, to maintain the skills for the current technology in the workplace by providing financial assistance to employers for the training of their employees.

Student Program
The Student Program is designed to provide wage subsidies to employers to provide career-related jobs for students in Canada.

Summer Challenge
G.R.E.A.T.s Summer Challenge provides an opportunity for secondary students ages 16 – 17 years to develop skills through on the job training while providing local businesses/organizations with summer help. The program also encourages personal development through life skills and job readiness training while stressing the importance of staying in school.

Summer Job Service
To provide Six Nations students with work experience for the summer months.


Targeted Wage Subsidy
To provide work experience for Six Nations of the Grand River Band Members by providing wage subsidies to employers.

Training Purchase
To assist individual Six Nations members to enter into a variety of training courses from public and private institutions which will increase their skill level.

Youth Community Based Projects
One of the objectives of G.R.E.A.T.s Youth Community Based Projects is to develop work opportunities for youth, Six Nations Band Members, who face greater barriers to entering the labour market through participation in meaningful community service projects.

Youth Information Initiative
The objective of this program is to provide youth with the labour market information that they need to make decisions about their education, career and lives.
