Disability Opportunity Initiative
Objective
To utilize G.R.E.A.T.’s existing employment and training programs to remove barriers to employment for persons with disabilities.
Eligible Employers
Businesses, Organizations, Public Health and Educational Institutions and Band Council.
Employers must have:
Revenue Canada Taxation number to remit an individual’s Employment Insurance Benefits.
Proper bookkeeping practices and policies in place.
Third party liability or WSIB coverage.
Employer Requirements
Willing and able to accommodate persons with disabilities.
Willingness to train and or employ people with disabilities.
Must have a Revenue Canada Taxation number in order to remit participants EI contribution.
Must have proper bookkeeping practices and policies in place.
Must have Third Party Liability Insurance or WSIB coverage.
Eligible Participants
Six Nations Band Members.
Individuals with a self identified disability that is restricting or a barrier to employment.
Duration
Normally a maximum of one (1) year.
Criteria:
A detailed proposal must be submitted outlining the goals and objectives, activities, outcomes and budget of the project.
Project deliverables must meet at least one of the following community capacity results: self reliance, responsibility, wellness.
Six Nations members/organizations/communities are encouraged to use the skills and professional resources of community members (i.e. consultants, facilitators, etc.)
Six Nations members/organizations/communities are expected to support businesses and services provided by community members (i.e. printers, caterers, etc.).
Six Nations members/organizations/communities are expected to use the facilities within the community. (i.e. meeting rooms, accommodations, etc.)
