Job Connect Program

Objective

To provide Six Nations youth assistance with job trials, resume and cover letter preparation, access to self-help computers, labour market information, skills assessment, employment planning and job development placements.

Eligible Employers

Businesses, Organizations, Public Health and Educational Institutions.

Eligible Participants

• Six Nations Band Member.
• 16 – 24 years of age, up to 29 for person with disabilities.
• Residents of Ontario, and eligible to work in Canada.
• Out of school and not participating in any other training program.
• Not eligible for Employment Insurance (EI) or EI Reachback.
• Not currently working for the employer applying for the subsidy.
• Ineligible for WSIB benefits.

Employer Criteria

• Provide the trainee with adequate supervision, and the training described in the training plan.
• Legally operate in Canada, provide all training in Canada.
• Operate and offer jobs in Ontario.
• Not receive training funding from any other source for the same employee.
• Not displace or replace existing employees.
• Be in private, non-profit or public sector.
• Workplace Safety and Insurance Coverage, or equivalent insurance, and third party liability insurance in place.
• Have Revenue Canada Taxation number to remit individual's Employment Insurance Benefits.
• Have proper bookkeeping practices and policies in place.
• Not hire youth/participant before applying for the program.

Financial Assistance

• Maximum Wage Subsidy of up to $4.00 per hour.
• Training Supports may be available to assist with job readiness and employment start-up.
• Special costs related to disabled participant may be provided if required.

Duration

Maximum Regular Job Development Placement 16 weeks.

NOTE: An exception to age requirements may be granted if individual is over 24 years of age, receiving Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program benefits or unemployed for a minimum of six (6) months.
