G.R.E.A.T.’s
Career Experience/Job
Shadowing program offers Six Nations members the opportunity to
learn about the many careers available in our community.
Ed
Hannigan is a Programs and Services Officer at GREAT. In his own words,
Ed says that “the best part of working at GREAT is the opportunity to work
with youth. It’s like watching a precious flower blossom.” The Career
Experience/Job Shadowing program is an excellent tool for helping our
youth realize the importance o So what do participants gain from this program? Knowledge about employment positions, the opportunity to collect information from people in the field, and contacts, are just a few of the advantages. “85% of jobs are not advertised. You get them through the side door, by reputation.” Says Hannigan. Networking with people in the field is extremely valuable. Past participants of the Career Experience/Job Shadowing program have earned jobs as a result of the program by first shadowing the position, then volunteering, and finally being hired as a full-time, paid employee. For complete program information please visit the programs section of www.greatsn.com or call G.R.E.A.T. to arrange an appointment with a Programs and Services Officer. |
