Skills Enhancement
Objective
To enhance existing skills of employed Six Nations Band Members, to maintain the skills for the current technology in the workplace by providing financial assistance to employers for the training of their employees.
Eligible Employers
Businesses, Organizations, Public Health and Educational Institutions, Municipal governments, and Native band councils.
Eligible Participants
Employed persons - Six nations band members required to enhance and maintain skills due to technological advancements, new requirements for certification, etc.
Individuals must be registered with Grand River Employment and Training (G.R.E.A.T.)
Individual will provide a resume to G.R.E.A.T. at the discretion of the Program and Services Officer, (PSO) after assessment has been completed.
Financial Assistance
Wages of participants for prevention of layoffs and designated group employees
up to sixty percent (60%)
of wages during “off the-job training” and
up to twenty-five percent (25%)
of wages during on-the-job training only.
Off the-job training costs may be negotiated within reason with the P.S.O. This training must be identified before the project starts.
Special costs related to a disabled participant or the cost of an audit may be provided as required.
Duration
Training will vary in length from
1 day to 52 weeks.
