Student Program
Objective
The Student Program is designed to provide wage subsidies to employers to provide career-related jobs for students in Canada.
Eligible Employers
Businesses and organizations.
Employers must have:
Revenue Canada Taxation number to remit an individual's EmploymentInsurance Benefits.
Proper bookkeeping practices and policies in place.
Third party liability or WSIB coverage.
Eligible Participants
Secondary or Post Secondary students -Six Nations Band Members who are attending school on a full-time basis or over the summer months, students who intend to return to school on a full-time basis after their vacation period.
Individual must be registered with Grand River Employment and Training (G.R.E.A.T.)
Individual will provide a resume to G.R.E.A.T. at the discretion of the Program and Services Officer, (PSO) after assessment has been completed.
Financial Assistance
Private and Public Sector
Wage subsidies may be provided up to the provincial
adult minimum wage rate.
Non-Profit Sector
Wage subsiding may be provided up to the provincial
adult minimum wage rate.
In addition, a contribution toward the employer’s share of mandatory employment related costs (MERCs) is available.
Summer student employment supports to a maximum of $200.00 for travel, first aid/CPR, work boots or short term training must be linked to career related position.
Special costs related to disabled participant may be provided if required.
Duration
Summer employment for students may last for a period of
up to eighteen (18) weeks.
Part-time employment for students attending school on a full-time basis may involve
up to fifteen (15) hours per week

maximum of fifteen (15) weeks
