Getting Started
On The Job Training Program
Objective
To provide training and work experience for Six Nations of the Grand River Band Members by providing on-the-job training costs, wage subsidies and other specified costs to employers.
G.R.E.A.T. encourages employers to maintain full-time employment for the trainee upon the completion of the training program.
Eligible Employers
Businesses, Organizations, Public Health and Educational Institutions.
Eligible Participants
Unemployed persons - Six Nations band members who are actively seeking full-time employment.
Individual must be registered with Grand River Employment and Training (G.R.E.A.T.)
Individual will provide a resume to G.R.E.A.T. at the discretion of the Program and Services Officer, (PSO) after assessment has been completed.
Financial Assistance
For profit sector are eligible for
up to 60%
of wages to a
maximum of $8.00
per hour and a
maximum of $320
per week per participant.
On an exceptional basis, up to 100%
of wages may be provided to profit sector should the participant be facing a severe employment barrier.
Non-Profit sector are eligible for
up to 100%
of wages up to a
maximum of $8.00
per hour and a
maximum of $320
per week per participant. Mandatory Employer Related Costs (MERCs) are negotiable.
Employer is eligible to receive
up to $8
per participant training hour for on-the-job training. A detailed training plan and a training log must be developed and maintained.
Up to $2,000
for equipment lease or rental may be provided.
Special costs related to a disabled participant or the cost of an audit may be provided when required.
Duration
Projects will last for a
minimum of 12 weeks
up to a
maximum of 52 weeks
dependent upon skill level of the individual.
The minimum workweek will be
30 hours per week to a maximum of 44 hours/week
(a lower number of hours may be approved for the disabled).
